Nutraceuticals: Beauty From the Inside Out

The word Nutraceutical is an amalgamation of nutrition and pharmaceutical. Nutraceuticals are food products that provide both health and medical benefits, including the prevention and treatment of disease. In light of recent breakthroughs in cellular-level nutraceutical agents, researchers and medical practitioners are developing templates for assessing and integrating information from clinical studies on complimentary and alternative therapies into responsible medical practice.
The term Nutraceutical was originally coined by Dr. Stephen L. DeFelice, founder and chairman of the Foundation of Innovation Medicine (FIM) in Crawford, NJ in 1989. But isn’t a Nutraceutical just a fancy word for vitamins or dietary supplements? Not really!
Nutraceuticals (as per the proposed definition) differ from dietary supplements in the following ways:
- Nutraceuticals must not only supplement the diet but should also aid in the prevention and/or treatment of disease and/or disorder.
- Nutraceuticals are represented for use as a conventional food or as the sole item of meal or diet.

I'm pretty sure my skin reacts to oil in most products so I have been searching and trying many alternatives to keep my skin moisturized w/o products containing oil, but also without chemicals.
